About Ciaran Parker
Ciaran Parker is a guy who believes that, just because you’re in your forties, doesn’t mean you can’t have a really great quality of life. He says that there are too many people who wake up in the morning feeling like shit, who feel sick when they look at the thing beside them, and then go through the day seeing how much harm and annoyance they can cause to other people. They’re often in jobs – quite well paid – which they hate, but they haven’t the balls to buck social convention by giving it all up and doing something different.
Ciaran comments further: “I’m interested in everything, past, present and future. I love expressing myself in words. When I see an audience I sense an opportunity.”

Just wanted to find out a bit more on James Murphy, who was hanged in Cavan Town for the allegation that he was involved in the murder of Charlotte Hinds. My grandfather has told me about the story. We are related to this man so, any information on him would be much appreciated.

Hi Ciaran,
I was reading your article in this weeks Cavan Echo which I found extremely interesting about Mary Prunty’s unfortunate death on the Cavan Railway line. I was wondering if you might have any information on the ruins of Tonymore House/Castle near Derrycramp???
Kind regards,
Rodney Lyons,
Manager,
Tarpey’s Supervalu, Cavan.

Documentary evidence points to Tonymore castle having been built in the mid 16th century, though my friend, archaeologist Paddy O’Donovan thinks a date earlier in the century might be more accurate. Its builders were a branch of the Brady faimily; in fact the person who is credited with building it was an uncle of the Walter Brady who was first Sovereign of the borough of Cavan in 1610 and who had a castle at the top of the town’s Bridge Street. This disagrees with what the late Oliver Davies wrote about Tonymore in his monumental article on Cavan’s castles in 1947, but while Davies was a fine archaeologist he did not have access to the document linking it with the Bradys, which wasn’t published until 1959.

Ha ha I was just reading where you wrote you hoped Cllr Vesey gives it ‘up the arse to the blueshirts’. Ha ha ha. Would they be teenage boys in blue uniforms in hotels in Kerry. You bloody eejit!

I may be a bloody eedjit but a perspicacious one. From what I’ve heard on the old GV some of Belturbet’s blueshirts would love to take it up the arse and get some rear-end action, all on the QT of course.

Hello,
Could you tell me please where is the burial place of my good friend T.P. Ennis? Just like yourself, I was in shock when I heard of his death (through internet, of all places!) and I would very much like to visit his resting place with a bunch of flowers next time when I am in Cavan.
Go raibh maith agat agus slán,
Irina.

Hi Ciaran, I’m concerned that you might be mistaken for me, get stopped by the cops and haev youn telephone bugged etc. The name Ciaran Parker is definitely weird – no offence, but for years I’ve been toying with changing the first part by deed poll to something with more social kudos, especially In Dublin 2,4,6. A namer like Simon or Sebastian might go better with Parker don’you think. I may have mentioned it on the blog that my dear mother (God be good to her) ;picked the name Ciaran after she’d read it in a local newspaper sports report that was lying on the toilet floort. That’s what she told me. What part of Mayo are you from? I’m real happy you like my website All the best, The other Ciaran Parker
